Recast Collaborative is a Cincinnati-based design and development practice focused on creating healthier, energy-efficient, and more affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income communities.

Too many families are priced out of safe, healthy, and stable housing - even in neighborhoods where they have deep roots. We exist to help communities reinvest in existing housing, preserve affordability, and create homes that are healthier, more efficient and built to last.

• We connect residents to financial incentives and programs to address deferred maintenance issues, replace systems, and improve energy efficiency; develop a scope of work; and manage contractors to execute the construction.

• We educate residents about indoor air quality, property maintenance, and provide tools to improve occupant health.

• We buy vacant and underused properties, and renovate or develop sustainable for-sale housing preserved for income qualified residents and families.

Jay Wilson founded Recast Collaborative to bring together design, sustainability, and housing development expertise in service of stronger communities. Over the last 20+ years, he worked at the intersection of our nation’s commingled ecologic and family affordability crisis.

• As an Architect, he designed and renovated innovative, sustainable, multifamily affordable housing developments that preserved and enhanced community health, well-being, and longevity.

• As a Public Servant, he wrote policies and developed guidelines for sustainable buildings and communities, including launching the first city-funded green bank in Washington, DC.

• As a Sustainability Professional, he integrated technical and policy knowledge to strengthen organizations’ ESG and sustainability commitments, provided actionable strategies to reduce energy use and carbon emissions, and to improve occupant health.
